“Logistics is one of the mostimportant economic sectors and largest employers in Lower Saxony,”said Dr. Bernd Althusmann, Lower Saxony’s minister for EconomicAffairs, Labour, Transport and Digitalization. “Langenhagen andHannover are located in the middle of Germany and in the heart ofEurope – a potential from which the logistics sector can profitlike hardly any other location. The expansion of this UPS branch isthus a commitment to the business location of the Hannover regionand at the same time a door opener for the export activities oflocal companies.”
The new hub will cover an areaof 24,000 square meters – e to three soccer fields – once thesecond phase of construction is completed in 2023. Phase one ofconstruction will involve a new building being erected alongsidethe existing facility, to be completed by the summer of 2021.
